Before each shipment goes out, we’ll email you with the details of your upcoming order so you can review it – and make any changes if you’d like – before it ships. Slàinte mhath
Pronounced: Slanj-uh VAHIt’s the Gaelic Scottish toast, raised across pub tables, hillsides, and distillery floors for centuries. Not just “cheers.” A genuine wish for the person across from you. Health. Warmth. The hope that things go well.
Spence had been using the phrase since college, Stef only used it on St Patrick’s Day. But we heard it used properly and frequently in Scotland. The trip that started all of this. A glass raised in a small Edinburgh pub, rain on the windows, peat smoke in the air. We brought the word home with us. It’s been part of the brand ever since.
The Saltire is one of the oldest national flags still in use. A white diagonal cross of St Andrew on a field of blue. Scotland has carried it since the 12th century. It predates the Union Jack, the Stars and Stripes, and almost every other flag you can name.
St Andrew is the patron saint of Scotland. The diagonal cross is how he was martyred. The Scots adopted it as their own and never let it go.
