1 Step One
Print your tasting flight sheet

Your tasting sheet has space for your own notes on each expression alongside our tasting notes. Here’s the thing about whisky: your palate is as valid as anyone’s. So write down what you think and you alone.

2 Step Two
Get three glasses and pour yourself a taste of each

Three Glencairn glasses if you have them — a white wine glass works just as well if you don’t. Pour a small measure of each expression, around 25ml. Label each glass or set them left to right in this order. We’ll taste them lightest to most complex, which gives your palate the best chance of appreciating each one fully.

First Blended Malt

Start here. It’s the most approachable and familiar – a gentle introduction for your palate before the more complex expressions.

Our tasting notes Honey, vanilla, warm caramel, gentle spice. Smooth and immediately welcoming.
Second Single Malt

The most complex of the three. Take your time here – it reveals itself slowly. Try a drop of water and see what changes.

Our tasting notes Natural Colorado chocolate, malt, leather, long viscous finish. Unusual, complex, surprising.
Third Peated Malt

Finish with the smoke. Starting with peat would overwhelm everything that followed – save the most assertive expression for last.

Our tasting notes Smoke, sweet American oak, vanilla, Minturn snowmelt. Bold, celebratory, completely its own.
💧 Have still water nearbyA small glass of still water to cleanse your palate between expressions and a pipette or teaspoon to add drops to your glass.
📝 Nose before you tasteSpend a full minute nosing each expression before your first sip. The nose tells you most of what you need to know.
🕯️ Slow downThis isn’t a race. Let each expression settle on your palate. The finish is where a well-made whisky tells its best story.
✍️ Write it downEven one word per expression is enough. You’ll be surprised how much more you notice when you’re looking for something to describe.
3 Step Three

Glasses poured, sheet printed, water at the ready. Now join Spence for the guided tasting video. He’ll walk you through each expression the way he’d do it in the Wee Dram — sharing the story of each dram, the decisions behind it, and what to look for in your glass.
